William Henry Taylor was born on 25th July 1891 at 3 Bedford Court, Holborn, London; the son of Henry Taylor (c1870-c1959) and Mary Ann Meacock (1869).
William missed the 1891 census (taken on the night of 5th April 1891) by some months but Table 1 below reveals the newly married Henry and Mary living at 3 Bedford Court.

On 9th November 1912 at St Pancras Register Office, London, William married Alice
Thornbury Woodward (1892-1955) the daughter of Charles Arthur Woodward (1863) and Ada nee
Harridge (1863). Alice was born at 7 Red Lion Street, Holborn on 3rd September 1892.
The WOODWARDs were living at 28 Red Lion Street by the time of the 1901 census as shown in
Table 3 below.

At the time of Alices birth Williams occupation
was Electroplater (Journeyman). It is believed he worked in the jewellery industry.
By the time of William Andrews birth William was caught
up in World War I and was a Private in the 1st Battalion, City of London, Royal Fusiliers.
It is believed he saw action in France or Belgium during the Great War.
When Lillian was born William was a Private in the 2/1 London
Regiment, Royal Fusiliers.

At the time of Charlies birth William was again an Electroplater (Journeyman).
At the death of Alice Mary Eileen (Dec 1921) and by the time
of Winnies birth William was a postman. In fact Post Office records show that
William Henry Taylor started work at the Post Office on 21st Aug 1922 as a Sorter in the
London Postal Region then went on to become a Postman on the Walks on 20th March 1936. He
retired at the age of 62 in 1953, due to Alices ill health. Unfortunately his
pension records were destroyed.
Alice died on 1st April 1955 at 81 Welbeck Road, Carshalton,
Surrey and was buried at Carshalton, Merton and Morden cemetery (K322).
After a heart attack, William died on 4th December 1966 at 287 Bishopsford Road, Carshalton, Surrey and was also buried at Carshalton, Merton and Morden cemetery (K148).

| Henry Charles (Charlie) | Born on 21st September 1920 at 8 Blundell Street, Islington, London. Charlie eventually joined the Royal Navy and served on HMS Hood. He was killed on 24th May 1941 when the Bismarck sunk the Hood in the north Atlantic. |
