HENRY TAYLOR
(c1870 - c1959)

Henry Taylor (Harry) was born sometime around 1870 in London (in the general area of Marylebone or St Clements according to later census returns). He was probably the son of William Taylor (c1841) and Ann Callaghan (c1841).

He worked in the printing industry and is said to have worked for the Daily Mirror and Illustrated London News.

In 1881 as a ten-year-old boy he was still living at home with his parents.  Table 1 below is believed to be the census return for Henry's family.

On 29th March 1891, conveniently around the time of the next census which took place on 5th April, Henry married Mary Ann Meacock (1869), daughter of George Edward Meacock (1841) and Margaret nee Blackhall (c1842). The marriage certificate gave Henry's address as 3 Bedford Court  (Holborn). Unfortunately there was no sign of him in the census at this address. Only later did he turn up with his new bride incorrectly enumerated under his in-laws' address of 15 Emerald Street. Table 2 below has the details.

On 25th July 1891, presumably the reason for a hasty marriage, their son William Henry was born at 3 Bedford Court.

Henry and Mary had the following children:

On all the birth certificates, Henry is described as a printer's labourer.

At the time of the 1901 census, Henry and his family were still living in Holborn at Lambs Conduit Street, as detailed in Table 3 below.
