George married Kathleen Ada GILLAM on 4th June 1927 at Holy Trinity Church, Selhurst, Surrey (see Figure 2). Despite the marriage certificate recording that Kathleen was 21 she was in fact only 19.

George worked for the Gas Board for many years and was Governor House Attendant (Gas) for the South East Gas Board in Carshalton. This involved maintaining the flow of gas to Carshalton from the gasholder in Wrythe Lane.

George and Kathleen had three children (see Figure 1) as follows:

  • Jeanne Kathleen PRIOR

  • John William PRIOR

  • Jacqueline Ann PRIOR

Kathleen died (of ovarian cancer) at the remarkably young age of 41 and George later remarried to Mrs Anne SMITH. They ran a business letting caravans at Bognor Regis in Sussex.

George died at the age of 78 in Weston-super-Mare, where he had been staying with his eldest daughter. He was cremated on 11th December 1981 at Croydon Crematorium.
