CENSUS 1851: Charles may have been visiting a brother in 1851 (see census info) Further Speculation via e-mail: William and Charlotte (nee LOWER) married 07 June 1824 at Brighton St Nicholas (Sussex Marriage Index) Charles Gillam b. abt 1813 Aylsford, m. Elizabeth Foster abt 1833. He had 6 siblings all shoemakers - a sister Lucy. A brother George m. Mary Hannan [probably Harman] in 1826. Charles and Elizabeth had a son William b. 1834. a prize fighter of Vine St. Brighton. He married Jane Goodham (sic) 1854 Brighton and then it goes on. Information from another doing just this tree.. There was no relationship with my Gillams. Charles Gillam could be the son of William Gillam b. 1782 and Mary-- other children were;William 1804 ( m. Charlotte?) George 1806, Jane 1808, John 1810, Lucy 1811, Charles, Eliza 1817, Elizabeth 1819 and Mary Ann 1827- shoemakers again. William MIGHT be the child of William Gillam and Fanny Tubbs m. 1774 St. Nicholas, Brighton. from LDS film. |
