Be it remembered that on the Tenth day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty ffive James Vanderzee an Infant to wit of the age of Nineteen years or thereabouts by Joseph Vaughton Cope his Attorney came before David Harridge Gentleman Lord of the said Manor at his usual dwelling house being the Manor house of and belonging to the said Manor called Little Stambridge Hall and informed the said Lord that James Vanderzee his late ffather who hold to him and his Heirs of this Manor by copy of court roll One undivided Moiety or half part (the whole into two equal parts to be divided of in and to All that customary Messuage or Tenement Heritable with the Barn Stable Edifices and buildings Garden and Six acres of Land thereto belonging called Winters with all and singular the appurtenances lying and being in Little Stambridge aforesaid and holden of the said Manor To which the said James Vanderzee deceased was admitted out of court on the twentieth day of August One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty three And also one other undivided moiety or half part the whole into two equal parts to be divided of in and to All that the said customary Messuage or Tenement Heriotable with the Barn Stable Edifices and Buildings Garden and six acres of Land thereto belonging called Winters with all and singular the appurtenances lying and being in Little Stambridge aforesaid and holden of the said Manor To which said last mentioned Moiety the said James Vanderzee deceased was admitted out of court on the twenty ffourth day of May now last past under a surrender from Golden Prentice late a copyhold tenant of the said Manor And since the last court held for this Manor the said James Vanderzee the ffather died so seized thereof leaving the said James Vanderzee the Infant his eldest Son and customary Heir upon whose death a heriot became due to the Lord of the said Manor which is compounded for at ffive pounds and ffive Shillings Whereupon the said James Vanderzee the Infant by the said Joseph Vaughton Cope his Attorney humbly prayeth of the said Lord of the said Manor to be admitted his Tenant to the said several undivided Moieties or half parts (the whole into two equal parts to be divided) of in and to the aforesaid customary Messuage or Tenement and premises with the appurtenances To which said James Vanderzee the Infant by his said Attorney the Lord of the said Manor of his special Grace and favour Did out of Court by his own hands grant and deliver seizin thereof by the rod To have and to hold the said several undivided Moieties or half parts (the whole into Two equal parts to be divided) of in and to the said Messuage or Tenement Land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said James Vanderzee the Infant his Heirs and Assigns for ever of the Lord by the rod at the will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the rents Heriots customs and services therefore anciently due and of right accustomed and he gave to the Lord as a ffine as appears in the Margin and (saving to the Lord all rights) he is admitted tenant thereof in form aforesaid but his fealty is respited. And because the said James Vanderzee is an Infant (to wit) of the age of Nineteen years or thereabouts the Guardianship of his person and said Estate is committed to Philadelphia Vanderzee Widow his Mother until etc – Examined by Ja: Vanderzee |
