Be it Remembered that on the Twentieth day of August in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and Eighty three James Vanderzee of Billericay in the county of Essex Gentleman by Joseph Vaughton Cope his Attorney came before David Harridge Gentleman Lord of the said Manor at his usual Dwelling house being the Manor House of and belonging to the said Manor called Little Stambridge Hall and Informed the said Lord that John Wright [who held] to him and his Heirs of this Manor by copy of court Roll dated the ffifth day of July one Thousand seven hundred and ffifty seven All that Customary Messuage or Tenement Heriotable with the Barn Stable Edifices and Buildings Garden and six Acres of Land thereto belonging called Winters with all and Singular the appurtenances lying and being in Little Stambridge aforesaid [and held of the said Manor And] also All other the Customary Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever of the said John Wright held of the said Manor Since the last [court held for this Manor dyed so seised] thereof having first duly Surrendered the said premises [illegible]

[illegible] ffive Pounds [ffive Shillings And the said James Vanderzee did produce and shew] unto the said Lord the Probate of the last Will and Testament of the said John Wright in writing dated the Twentieth day of January one Thousand seven hundred and Eighty the Tenor whereof as to the Premises is in the words following that is to say "And subject to the Payment of my just Debts the above Legacies and weekly payments I Give devise and bequeath to my two ffriends Mr Golden Prentice of Pagglesham in the county of Essex and Mr James Vanderzee of Billericay in the same county All and every my Messuages Lands Tenements Hereditaments and Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever as well ffreehold as copyhold and also all my Goods Chattles Monies Effects and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever To hold to them the said Golden Prentice and James Vanderzee their Heirs Executors administrators and Assigns respectively for ever share and share alike as Tenants in common and not as joint Tenants" Whereupon the said James Vanderzee by his said Attorney humbly prayeth of the Lord of the said Manor to be admitted his Tenant to One undivided Moiety or half part the whole into two equal parts to be divided of and in the said Premises with the Appurtenances To which said James Vanderzee the Lord of the said Manor of his Special Grace and favor did out of court by his own hands grant and deliver Seisin thereof by the Rod To have and to hold the said undivided Moiety or half part (the whole into two equal parts to be divided) of in and to the said Messuage or Tenement Land and Premises with the appurtenances unto the said James Vanderzee his Heirs and Assigns for ever of the Lord by the Rod at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Rents Heriots customs and services therefore antiently due and of right accustomed And he gave to the Lord for a ffine as appears in the Margin and (saving to the Lord all rights) he is admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid but his ffealty is respited.
