Be it remembered that on the twenty ninth day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty two David Harridge Gentleman Lord of the Said Manor in his own proper person on the humble petition of Robert Salmon of Rochford in the county of Essex Carpenter Granteth and Delivereth Seisin by the Rod of All that small piece or parcel of Land Customary with the Appurtenances held of this Manor by the Annual Rent of Twopence on which a Cottage formerly Stood and upon which a Cottage is lately erected as the said parcel of Land doth contain in length one hundred and sixty feet and in breadth twenty feet more or less lying near the end of a way leading to Little Doggets Gate abutting upon the Highway leading from Hawkwell to Canewdon to the East on the Land of Thomas Lee called Great Brays to the West on the Glebe Lands of Little Stambridge to the South and on the Lands called Apton Hall to the North as the said premises were sometime since held by Joseph Tanner deceased of the Lord of this Manor by Copy of Court Roll and have long since been fforfeited and Seised into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor for want of a Tenant To have and to hold the said premises with their appurtenances unto the said Robert Salmon and his Heirs of the Lord by the Rod at the will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor At a ffine certain of ffive shillings upon every death or alienation by the antient and annual Quit Rent of two pence payable on Michaelmas day in every year and by the Rights Customs and Services therefore antiently due and of right accustomed And he gave to the Lord for a ffine certain as in the Margin and so saving to the Lord all Rights he is admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid and his ffealty is respited. |
