THE GILLAM FAMILY OF CROYDON AND BRIGHTON

Chapter 8

GILLAM Family Conjecture

Charles's parents were William GILLAM, shoemaker, born about 1782 in Brighton, and Mary.  The St Nicholas, Brighton baptism registers suggest that William and Mary may have had the following children:

  • William, bap 12th August 1804
  • George, bap 2nd February 1806 (m. Mary HANNAN in 1826)
  • Jane, bap 3rd March 1808
  • John, bap 25th March 1810
  • Lucy born about 1811,
  • Charles, bap 22nd August 1813
  • Eliza, bap 7th December 1817
  • Elizabeth, bap 14th November 1819
  • Mary Ann, bap 3rd June 1827

All known, real and conjectured, descendants of William & Mary can be found on the GILLAM family chart.

William (supposed father of Charles) might be the child of William Gillam and Fanny Tubbs who married in 1774 at St. Nicholas, Brighton (from LDS film) (NB: IGI confirms the film - William married Fanny Tubbs on 23rd January 1774 at St Nicholas, Brighton).
